Rexnord Corp. (NYSE: RXN), Milwaukee, WI, reported sales for the second quarter ended Sept. 28 were $515 million, up 3 percent year-over-year. Core sales were also up 3 percent. The manufacturer reported a loss for the period of $52.3 million, compared to a profit of $19.2 million a year ago.
For the first six months of the fiscal year, sales were $1 billion, up 3 percent over the same period a year ago. The company recorded a net loss of $38.5 million for the period, compared with profit of $17 million a year ago.
Process & Motion Control second-quarter sales were $312 million, up slightly from the second quarter of fiscal year 2013. Core sales increased 1 percent year-over-year as low single digit sales growth in the majority of end-markets was partially offset by a decline in sales to bulk material handling markets.
Water Management sales increased 7 percent from the prior year to $203 million. Excluding a 1 percent favorable impact from foreign currency, core sales increased 6 percent.
