French electrical distributor Sonepar reported sales for 2011 of €14.7billion (US$19.6 billion), up 10 percent over sales in 2010. Organically, sales grew 8 percent.

New acquisitions in 2011 added €700 million (US$934.5 million) to total revenue. In the U.S., the group acquired California-based Independent Electric Supply and OneSource Distributors. Sonepar also strengthened its presence in China, Canada, and several European countries through a variety of acquisitions.
In 2011, Europe accounted for 63 percent of total business, North America made up 30 percent, and Asia-Pacific accounted for 7 percent.
In 2012, Sonepar will continue to invest, particularly in high-growth countries, but without losing sight of the uncertain business climate in the coming months.
