USG Corp. (NYSE: USG), Chicago, IL, reported sales for the third quarter were $828 million, an 8.5 percent increase over the same period a year ago. The building products company reported a loss of $29 million, compared to a year-ago loss of $115 million.

For the first nine months, sales were $2.4 billion, a 10.3 percent increase year-over-year. USG reported a loss of $113 million, compared to a loss of $290 million for the first nine months of 2011.
L&W Supply Corp., USG's building products distribution segment with a No. 8 ranking on MDM’s list of top building materials/construction distributors, reported third-quarter sales of $300 million. Results marked a 6 percent improvement over the prior-year period.
For the first nine months, sales for L&W Supply Corp. were $863 million, 8.4 percent above 2011 levels.
