AmerisourceBergen Corp. (NYSE: ABC), Valley Forge, PA, reported sales for its fiscal year ended Sept. 30, 2012, were $79.5 billion, down 0.6 percent from fiscal year 2011. Profit increased 1.7 percent to $719 million.

For the fiscal year fourth quarter, sales were $19.5 billion, down 4.4 percent from the same period a year ago. Profit grew 11 percent to $163.5 million.
In the fourth quarter, Pharmaceutical Distribution revenues were $19.1 billion, a decrease of 6 percent compared to the same quarter in the prior year. AmerisourceBergen Drug Corporation (ABDC) revenues declined 8 percent. AmerisourceBergen Specialty Group (ABSG) revenues increased 6 percent. Operating income of $307.7 million increased 16 percent.
Sales in the Other segment, which includes AmerisourceBergen Consulting Services (ABCS) and World Courier, were $421.6 million in the fourth quarter, compared to $74.7 million a year ago. Fiscal year 2012 segment results include significant contributions from acquisitions. Operating income increased significantly to $17.6 million.
AmerisourceBergen also announced that it is pursuing the sale of AndersonBrecon, its contract pharmaceutical packaging business, so that it can focus on its distribution, specialty and manufacturer services businesses.
