Swedish manufacturer Atlas Copco (STO:ATCOA) (STO:ATCOB) has agreed to acquire Saltus-Werk Max Forst GmbH, a manufacturer of mechanical and electric torque solutions based in Germany.

Saltus has about 65 employees and had revenues in 2012 of about MEUR 8 (MSEK 70). The company manufactures and sells mechanical, mechatronic and electronic wrenches as well as special sockets.

Saltus has a customer base primarily in the German automotive industry, with potential globally, according to Atlas Copco.

“Quality demands from industrial manufacturers are steadily increasing, and this acquisition strengthens our position in quality assurance,” said Mats Rahmström, Business Area President for Atlas Copco Industrial Technique. “It extends our product and service offers to the motor vehicle segment and general industry, and ensures we become a more complete supplier of torque wrenches within quality assurance.”

Atlas Copco is a global industrial group with positions in compressors, expanders and air treatment systems, construction and mining equipment, power tools and assembly systems.
