Alamo Iron Works sells industrial supplies, including paints, lubricants and material handling and welding equipment, cutting tools, PVF and safety products. Most of the distributor's revenues come from industrial supply sales. It also has a steel service center operation.
"the purchase of Alamo Iron Works preserves the legacy of a 135-year-old company that has played an integral role in the growth and development of San Antonio and South Texas," said Scott Prince, lead director of the IDG Board.
IDG currently distributes 400,000 products from 10,000 suppliers to more than 15,000 customers throughout North America and China. This acquisition signifies IDG's move into the South Texas region.
IDG was No. 24 on the list of top 40 industrial distributors in the MDM Market Leaders report released last week. h
