WESCO International, Inc. (NYSE: WCC), Pittsburgh, PA, has agreed to acquire EECOL Electric Corp., Alberta, Canada, and various affiliated companies for C$1.14 billion (US$1.16 billion).

Founded in 1919, EECOL Electric is a distributor of electrical equipment, products and services with $900 million in annual sales and 57 locations across Canada and 20 locations in South America. EECOL serves more than 20,000 industrial, oil, gas, mining, utility and commercial and residential construction customers.
John J. Engel, WESCO CEO, said the addition expands WESCO's presence in Canada and broadens the company’s capabilities in South America.
