United Stationers Announces CEO Transition

Current United Stationers CEO Dick Gochnauer will step down in May 2011.

Master distributor of business, industrial and jan-san products, United Stationers Inc. (NASDAQ: USTR), Deerfield, IL, announced that P. Cody Phipps, president and COO, will become president and CEO when Richard W. Gochnauer, the company’s current CEO, retires at the annual shareholders’ meeting in May 2011. Gochnauer will not stand for reelection to the company’s board of directors.

Phipps, 48, who was named president and COO in September 2010, has been with the company for seven years. He joined United in 2003 as senior vice president of operations and was promoted to president, United Stationers Supply division in 2006.

Gochnauer, 61, joined United Stationers in July of 2002 as COO and a member of the company’s board of directors. In December of that same year, he took the helm as president and CEO.
