The 2Q13 PTDA Business Index produced a reading of 54.7, a decrease over last quarter’s reading of 61.1, according to the Power Transmission Distributors Association. This indicates that the power transmission / motion control industry expanded for the 13th consecutive quarter, but at a slower pace than in the first quarter. Compared to the prior-year quarter, the reading is a slight increase.
The index reading indicates the rate of change compared with the previous period, with a reading of 50 indicating no change from the prior period. Readings above 50 indicate growth and readings below 50 indicate contraction. The further the index is above or below 50 suggests a faster or slower rate of change.
