Even as sales declined 2.8 percent in 2009, Beacon Roofing Supply posted a profit of $52.4 million. During 2009, the company closed six branches, but also opened three new locations as the fiscal year came to a close. Since embarking on fiscal year 2010, Beacon has picked up acquisition activity, buying Louisiana Roofing Supply, Baton Rouge, LA, Phoenix Sales in Central Florida, and Independent Building Materials in Orlando, FL. \”We look optimistically to a solid level of performance as the challenging economic conditions continue into fiscal 2010. We believe we have the product mix, geographic diversity, experienced staff, exceptional customer service, sustainable culture and a strong balance sheet to perform well under any conditions,\” wrote the executive team in the 2009 annual report.
