2009 Acquisitions: Orco Construction Supply

HD Supply has been switching up its leadership team, bringing on former Ferguson CEO John Stegeman as executive president. HD Supply has recorded steep losses in the past two years since being spun off from The Home Depot in 2007 and sold to a trio of private equity firms including Bain Capital, The Carlyle Group and Clayton, Dubilier & Rice. CEO Joe DeAngelo told MDM recently: "We invested through the downturn, so we felt very good about the core investments we were putting in, in terms of digitization, in terms of expanding our markets, and really the last phase of that is just pounding in the talent at the top of the organization to be able to catch the wave of growth, but more importantly, lead the wave of growth, whether the markets are growing or not." The distributor's core businesses are Waterworks, Facilities Maintenance, Utilities and White Cap construction supply.
