The first podcast – about 13 minutes long – is now available featuring Don Norman, economist and council director for MAPI/Manufacturers Alliance. Norman provided an outlook on U.S. economic conditions, as well as analyzed the impact of oil prices and global events on the economy.

In this month's program, Norman said that the U.S. has seen renewed consumption spending, which is the largest contributor to U.S. GDP. Strong exports have also contributed to economic growth.
He said that MAPI's forecast shows real GDP growing 3.2 percent for 2011 and 3 percent in 2012. Manufacturing continues to outperform the overall economy, but, he pointed out, while manufacturing activity has increased, it is still below its most recent peak reached in 2007.
