More than 80 percent of MDM-Baird Distribution Survey respondents allow employees to use personal mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets and laptops for work purposes.

This has sped up the adoption of mobile technologies in wholesale distribution, but with the increased use comes increased security risks.

Staff writer Angela Poulson examined the security risks that go along with an increasingly mobile workforce in the latest issue of MDM Premium. Read that article here:

Here are three tips to keep in mind when considering the security of your company’s data:

  1. Implement non-compete agreements with higher-level employees. Read more about non-compete agreements in this article: 10 Things to Consider in a Non-Compete
  2. Make sure you consider the knowledge your customers or suppliers have about your company. Protect that with an agreement and how that data can or cannot be used.
  3. Social media relationships – such as those on LinkedIn – should be included in any employment agreement. Employers may need to restrict how those contacts are used post-employment.
