Beacon Roofing Supply Inc. (NASDAQ: BECN), Peabody, MA, reported sales for the third quarter ended June 30 of $627.2 million, an increase of 11.9 percent compared to the same period a year ago. Organic sales increased 1.2 percent. Profit increased 6.9 percent to $27.2 million.
In existing markets, residential and non-residential roofing product sales during the quarter increased 0.2 percent and 1.1 percent, respectively. Complementary product sales for Beacon increased 5.2 percent.
“Our sales growth occurred despite unusually heavy rains and other harsh weather factors in many of our markets that delayed spring and early summer roofing activities, as well as the negative impact from fewer hail storms during fiscal 2013 than in the prior year,” said Paul Isabella, president and CEO.
For the first nine months, sales were $1.6 billion, an increase of 7.7 percent compared to the same period a year ago. Organic sales decreased 2 percent. Profit decreased 5.2 percent to $45.2 million.
