Anixter International Sales Rise 1.7% in 2012

Electrical and Electronic Wire and Cable sales were up 18 percent in the fourth quarter.

Anixter International Inc. (NYSE: AXE), Glenview, IL, reported sales for the fourth quarter of $1.54 billion, a 3 percent increase compared to the same period a year ago. Organic sales were flat year-over-year. Profit fell 89.4 percent to $5.1 million.

Enterprise Cabling and Security Solutions sales of $800 million declined 1 percent in the fourth quarter from the prior-year period. Electrical and Electronic Wire and Cable sales were $544.1 million, up 18 percent. OEM Supply sales of $200.3 million declined by 12.4 percent year-over-year.

For the full year, sales were $6.3 billion, a 1.7 percent increase compared to the prior year. Profit fell 33.7 percent to $124.8 million.
