Atlas Copco, Stockholm, Sweden, reported sales for the second quarter were SEK 19.95 billion (US$3 billion), an increase of 14 percent over the same period a year ago. Organically, sales increased 27 percent. Profit was up 18 percent to SEK 2.98 billion (US$451.5 million).

For the first six months, sales were SEK 43.9 billion (US$6.65 billion), up 20 percent in a year-over-year comparison. Organically, sales increased 27 percent. Profit grew 37 percent to SEK 6.0 billion (US$909.1 million).

Atlas Copco in May announced it will build a new factory for compressors in India.
