Hexcel Corp. (NYSE: HXL), Stamford, CT, second-quarter sales were $353.7 million, 15.9 percent higher than reported for the same period a year ago. Profit increased 61.9 percent to $37.4 million.

For the first six months, sales were $685.3 million, up 20.6 percent over the first six months of 2010. Profit improved 64 percent to $63.8 million.
Total Industrial sales of $64.2 million for the second quarter of 2011 were 0.8 percent lower than the second quarter of 2010. Wind sales were down about 10 percent from the same period last year, but up more than 10 percent sequentially and remained in line with the average of the last twelve months.
Commercial Aerospace sales of $207.8 million increased 29.1 percent for the quarter as compared to the second quarter 2010.
Space & Defense sales of $81.7 million were 2.9 percent higher than the second quarter of 2010.
