Crane Co. (NYSE: CR), Stamford, CT, reported sales for the third quarter of $646 million, down slightly from the same quarter a year ago. Profit increased 8.7 percent to $57.1 million.

Aerospace & Electronics segment sales were flat to the prior-year quarter, while Engineered Materials segment sales grew 7 percent. Fluid Handling sales were up 1 percent.

For the first nine months, sales for Crane Co. were $525.1 million, 3.8 percent above the same period a year ago. Profit increased 13 percent to $151.4 million.
