Crane Co. (NYSE: CR), Stamford, CT, reported sales for the second quarter of $648.7 million, a decrease of 1.4 percent compared to the same period a year ago. Profit decreased 12.3 percent to $54.9 million.
Aerospace and electronics sales were $172.4 million, a 3 percent decline from 2012 levels. Operating profit decreased 5 percent to $37 million.
Engineered materials sales were $57.7 million, an increase of 6 percent compared to year-ago levels. Operating profit jumped 65 percent to $9.2 million.
Merchandising systems sales were $84.8 million, a decrease of 13 percent compared to the same period a year ago. Operating profit decreased 3 percent to $8.9 million.
Fluid handling sales were $333.8 million, 2 percent higher than the prior-year quarter. Operating profit jumped 77 percent to $54.2 million.
For the first six months, sales for Crane Co. were $337.3 million, a decrease of 4.7 percent year-over-year. Profit decreased 1.4 percent to $112.7 million.
