The Fastenal Co. of Winona, MN, (Nasdaq: FAST), No. 7 on MDM's list of top industrial distributors, reported sales for August of $298 million, an increase of 2.5 percent compared to the same period a year ago.
Daily sales averaged $13.5 million over the 22-day period, an increase of 7.2 percent versus last year.
During the month, sales to manufacturing customers grew 6.1 percent, and sales to nonresidential customers grew 7.3 percent.
Five new stores opened in August, bringing the total store count to 2,644. Employee headcount increased 6.3 percent to 13,505.
