The Home Depot, Atlanta, GA, home improvement retailer, reported second quarter 2011 sales of $20.2 billion, a 4.2 percent increase from the same period a year ago. Comparable store sales were up 4.3 percent, and sales for U.S. stores up 3.5 percent.

Profit was $1.4 billion.
For the first half of the year, sales were up 2.2 percent.
"Our second-quarter results were driven by a rebound in our seasonal business, storm-related repairs and strength in our core categories," said Frank Blake, CEO.
