Motion Industries, the industrial segment of Atlanta, GA-based Genuine Parts Co. (NYSE: GPC), reported sales for the full year 2012 of $4.5 billion, an increase of 6.7 percent compared to 2011. Operating profit increased 14.4 percent to $1 billion.
Fourth-quarter sales for Motion were $1.1 billion, an increase of 2.1 percent compared to the same period a year earlier. Operating profit fell 12.3 percent to $78.1 million.
The electrical/electronic group, EIS Inc., reported 2012 sales of $582.8 million, a 4.5 percent increase from 2011. Fourth-quarter sales decreased 1.6 percent to $135.4 million.
S.P. Richards Co., Genuine Parts' office products group, reported full-year sales of $1.7 billion, down slightly from 2011. Fourth-quarter sales increased 2.9 percent to $402.9 million.
Genuine Parts' automotive group reported full-year sales of $6.3 billion, a 4.3 percent increase from the prior year. Sales for the fourth quarter increased 4.9 percent to $1.5 billion.
Full-year sales for Genuine Parts Co. were $13 billion, an increase of 4.5 percent compared to 2011. Profit increased 15 percent to $648 million. Fourth-quarter sales were $3.1 billion, an increase of 3.5 percent compared to the prior-year period. Profit increased 19 percent to $160 million.
