Industrial distributor MSC Industrial Direct Co. Inc. (NYSE: MSM), Melville, NY, reported sales for its fiscal second quarter ended March 3 of $769 million, an increase of 9.3 percent from the prior-year period. Profit for the quarter was $117.6 million, up 119.4 percent from the same quarter a year ago.
Sales for the first six months were $1.5 billion, up 10.6 percent compared to the prior-year period. Profit was $177.1 million, up 64.4 percent.
