HD Supply, Atlanta, GA, reported sales for the first quarter of fiscal 2010 were $1.8 billion, a decline of 5.7 percent compared to the first quarter of fiscal 2009. Net loss for the quarter was $202 million, compared to a year ago profit of $10 million.

Excluding the 2010 and 2009 charges for valuation allowances and the 2009 gain from the debt extinguishment, net loss for the first quarter was $118 million, compared with a net loss of $111 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2009.
