Ingersoll-Rand plc (NYSE: IR), Swords, Ireland, reported sales for the second quarter of $3.9 billion, an increase of 3 percent compared to the same period a year earlier. U.S. sales for the manufacturer increased 4 percent compared, and revenues from international operations increased by 1 percent. Profit fell 13.3 percent to $317.2 million.
Climate solutions sales, accounting for 13.2 percent of total sales, were $2.1 billion for the second quarter, an increase of 4.6 percent compared to the same period a year earlier.
Industrial technologies sales, accounting for 16 percent of total sales, were $762.9 million, a 3.5 percent decline from 2012’s second quarter.
Residential solutions sales in the second quarter, accounting for 11.2 percent of total sales, were $713 million, a 9.3 percent increase year-on-year.
Security technologies sales, accounting for 21.6 percent of total sales, were $398.6 million, 3.1 percent below results for the second quarter of 2012.
Sales for Ingersoll-Rand for the first six months were $7 billion, an increase of 1 percent compared to the same period in 2012. Profit decreased 12.2 percent to $405.2 million.
