Purvis Industries Acquires Bates Companies

Acquired companies include Bates Sales Co., The Mine Supply Co. and IMSCO of Albuquerque.

Bearing and power transmission distributor Purvis Industries, Dallas, TX, has acquired the Bates family of companies, consisting of Bates Sales Co., The Mine Supply Co., IMSCO of Albuquerque, Design Mfg & Equipment Co., St Louis Vibrator Products, Conveyor and Drive Equipment Co., C&L Gear & Machine and Munroe Material Handling. Bates and its companies account for more than $68 million in annual sales.

Bates has locations serving St. Louis, Hannibal, St. Genevieve, Jackson, Sikeston and Springfield, MO, as well as locations in Pittsburg, KS, Newbern, TN, and Blytheville and Osceola, AR. The Mine Supply Co. is located in Carlsbad, NM, Mt Vernon, IL., Viburnum, MO, and their IMSCO division in Albuquerque, NM.

The Bates Sales Co. businesses target industrial and mining customers. "They not only allow us to expand our presence into new geography, but also enable us to further develop and reach into new markets,” Cameron Barker, vice president of corporate operations for Purvis Industries, said.

Michael Adorjan, president of Bates, will remain with Purvis to further develop the Bates and Mine Supply businesses and to help facilitate the transition.
