Swedish manufacturer Seco Tools sales in the first quarter were SEK 1.72 billion (US$282.8 million), an increase of 26 percent over the same period a year ago. Profit increased 70 percent to SEK 245 million (US$40.3 million).

\”Demand continued to improve in virtually all of Seco Tools markets during the quarter,\” said Lars Bergstr¨o;m, president and CEO. \”Sales remained very strong in the emerging markets and particularly strong growth was recorded in Central and Eastern Europe. In addition, it was gratifying to note healthy growth in many major mature markets including Germany and the US.\”
