Houston, TX-based Sysco Corp. (NYSE:SYY) reported sales for its third quarter ended March 27, 2010, were $8.9 billion, an increase of 2.4 percent from the prior-year period. Profit for the third quarter was $248 million, up from last year.

Year-to-date, sales were $26.9 billion, a decrease of 3.1 percent. Profit for the first three quarter was $842 million, an increase of 13.7 percent from the prior-year period.
Sysco is a foodservice distributor with 186 distribution facilities. For the fiscal year 2009, the distributor had more than $36 billion in sales.
