United Rentals, Inc. (NYSE: URI), Greenwich, CT, reported total revenue for 2010 was $2.2 billion, down 8 percent from 2009. Rental revenue was flat year-over-year at $1.8 billion. The equipment rental company recorded a full-year loss of $26 million, compared to a year-ago loss of $62 million.

For the fourth quarter, total revenue was $597 million, an increase of 7 percent over the same period a year ago. Rental revenue increased 10 percent to $497 million. The company recorded a fourth-quarter loss of $21 million, compared to a loss of $26 million for fourth quarter of 2009.
