Stock Building Supply Expands Commercial Sales Base

Stock Building Supply, Raleigh, NC, distributor of building materials to professionals in the U.S., has acquired Martin Architectural Products, in Cary, NC. Martin reported sales of $26.3 million in fiscal 2005.


 


‘The acquisition of Martin is another significant step in developing our commercial sales program,’ says Fenton Hord, Stock president and CEO.


 


Founded in 1975, Martin is a fabricator, supplier, and installer of architectural products for commercial and institutional projects, including universities, hospitals, hotels, office buildings, and airports. Its product categories include hollow metal doors and frames, wood doors and frames, fire doors, electronic security entrance systems, and commercial hardware.


 


The company operates from two locations. The acquisition adds 140 associates to Stock.


 


Stock Building Supply now operates 314 locations in 33 states, with reported sales of $4.1 billion for the fiscal year 2005. Stock Building Supply is a subsidiary of Wolseley plc of Theale, England, which had sales in fiscal year 2005 of more than $20 billion.
