Pharmaceutical and medical supplies distributor McKesson Corp. (NYSE: MCK), San Francisco, CA, reported that sales for the second quarter ended Sept. 30 were $44.8 billion, up 36 percent from a year ago. Profit for the second quarter was up 16 percent to $469 million.
Distribution Solutions revenues were $44 billion, up 37 percent for the quarter on a reported and constant currency basis, mainly driven by the acquisition of Celesio and market growth.
Medical-surgical distribution and services revenues were up 4 percent for the quarter, driven by market growth.
Technology Solutions revenues were $770 million, down 6 percent in the second quarter compared to the prior year, driven by anticipated revenue softness from the Horizon clinical software platform and the planned elimination of a product line, partially offset by growth in other technology businesses.
For the first half of the year, sales were $88.8 billion, up 36 percent from the prior-year period. Profit was up 5 percent to $872 million.
