McKesson Corp. (NYSE: MCK), San Francisco, CA, reported sales for the third quarter ended Dec. 31, 2012, of $31.2 billion, an increase of 1 percent compared to the same period a year earlier. Profit decreased 0.7 percent to $298 million.
Distribution Solutions revenues were up 1 percent in the quarter, driven mainly by growth in U.S. pharmaceutical direct distribution and services business and growth in the Medical-Surgical distribution business.
Canadian revenues, on a constant currency basis, increased 3 percent.
Medical-Surgical distribution and services revenues were up 15 percent in the third quarter, driven by market growth, new customers, acquisitions and one additional sales day.
For the first nine months of the fiscal year, sales were $91.8 billion, an increase of 1 percent from the prior year. Profit increased 22.3 percent to $1.1 billion.
