Bunzl plc, the international distribution and outsourcing group, has agreed to acquire a company in Austria and has completed acquisitions of a company in the U.S. and two in Australia.
Bunzl has agreed to acquire Meier Verpackungen GmbH, Hohemems, Austria, which distributes customer-specific packaging products to food processors throughout Austria. Revenue for the year ended April 30 was €39 million (US$45.2 million). Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Bunzl also acquired Steiner Industries Inc., Chicago, IL, a personal protection equipment distribution business that sells safety gloves and work wear to U.S. distributors that supply the welding and industrial sectors. Revenue for the year ended Nov. 30, 2014, was $17.9 million.
And the company purchased two Australian companies – Cater Plus Pty Ltd., trading as Bidvest Hospitality Supplies, Adelaide; and Delta Hospitality Pty Ltd, Brisbane. Both businesses supply catering consumables and equipment to a variety of customers. Revenue for the year ended June 30 was A$9.8 million (US$7.1 million) for Bidvest Hospitality and A$10.8 million (US$7.8 million) for Delta Hospitality. Terms of the other three deals also weren't disclosed.
Bunzl also reported sales for the first six months of £3.1 billion (US$4.9 billion), up 7 percent from the same period a year ago. Profit was £147.1 million (US$231.7 million), up 11 percent from 2014.
