Crane to Acquire Trillium’s U.S. Pumps Business for $240M

The deal adds four established pump brands and approximately $115 million in annual revenue to Crane while expanding its position in municipal water and wastewater markets.

Crane Company has agreed to acquire Trillium Flow Technologies’ U.S. pumps business for approximately $240 million, adding a portfolio of established pump brands focused largely on municipal water and wastewater applications.

Stamford, CT-based Crane announced Sept. 14 that it entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Trillium Pumps US from Trillium Flow Technologies — a portfolio company of private equity firm First Reserve. The purchase price represents approximately 14.6 times the business’ estimated 2026 adjusted EBITDA.

The business is expected to generate approximately $115 million in full-year revenue and includes the Floway, Wemco, Roto-Jet and WSP brands. Its products include highly engineered pumping solutions used primarily in municipal water and wastewater applications.

Crane said the business has a large installed equipment base that generates recurring service, repair, retrofit and replacement demand throughout the product lifecycle.

“These brands are an excellent strategic fit that enhances the quality, durability, and growth profile of our Process Flow Technologies segment,” Crane President and CEO Alex Alcala said. He added that the deal expands Crane’s exposure to “resilient water and wastewater markets” and brings additional recurring aftermarket demand.

The transaction is expected to close during the fourth quarter, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.

The sale continues a significant reshaping of Trillium’s flow-control portfolio under First Reserve. In June, Flowserve completed its $490 million acquisition of Trillium Flow Technologies’ Valves Division, which included engineered valves serving nuclear and traditional power generation, industrial and critical infrastructure markets.

Trillium said the Crane transaction represents another step in its strategy of positioning its businesses for long-term growth. The company provides engineered flow-control products and aftermarket services for critical infrastructure and industrial markets.

MDM Analysis

For distributors, the deal is another sign of consolidation around high-value water infrastructure and aftermarket demand. Crane is buying not just pump brands, but a large installed base with recurring service and replacement needs. That reinforces why municipal water and wastewater remain attractive markets for manufacturers and distributors seeking durable, less-cyclical revenue.
