Sysco Sales Up Slightly in 2Q

Company's profit jumps 72.4 percent during quarter.

Foodservice distributor Sysco Corp. (NYSE: SYY), Houston, TX, reported second-quarter sales of $12.2 billion, a 0.6 percent increase from the same quarter a year ago. Profit increased 72.4 percent to $272 million.

For the first six months, Sysco reported sales of $24.7 billion, a 0.8 percent increase from the same period a year ago. Profit increased 18.3 percent to $517 million.
