The National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW) announced Aug. 31 the hiring of Liz Shrum as its new chief communications officer.

Shrum has more than two decades of experience in media and communications. She previously served as director of marketing and communications at POLITICO, president and CEO of her own consulting firm LJS Media, director of digital strategy for the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), and senior advisor for the American Association of Consumer Credit Professionals. Shrum has also worked at the Boston Business Journal, Sinclair Broadcast Group and Melrose Weekly News, of which she was a founding member.

“I’m excited to welcome Liz to the NAW team,” NAW CEO Eric Hoplin said. “With her track record of success and extensive experience and background in media, marketing, digital advocacy, and communications, Liz is the right leader to expand our marketing, communications, and public affairs discipline and help us tell the story of our members, our workforce and our industry.”

“Wholesale distribution is the backbone of the American Supply Chain and I am thrilled to lead NAW in telling the stories of these incredible family-owned businesses and how they are delivering for America,” Shrum said. “I look forward to working with our membership, the media and other partners and stakeholders.”

NAW is known as the “national voice of wholesale distribution” and is comprised employers of all sizes and national, regional, state and local line of trade associations spanning the $7.4 trillion wholesale distribution industry. There are approximately 35,000 enterprises with almost 150,000 places of business in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. that are affiliated with NAW.
