Kaman Corp., Bloomfield, CT, reported sales for the second quarter 2011 were up 21.4 percent to $385 million. Aerospace sales were up 37.3 percent, and Industrial Distribution sales increased 13.5 percent.

Kaman's industrial distribution segment is No. 15 on MDM's list of the top 40 industrial distributors.
Industrial Distribution segment sales were $239.3 million. Acquisitions contributed $10.3 million in sales in the quarter. Segment operating income for the second quarter of 2011 was $12.3 million, a 58.9 percent increase from operating income of $7.7 million in the second quarter of 2010.
Industrial Distribution segment sales for the second quarter of 2011 reflect strong markets conditions and growth from acquisitions made in 2010, according to Kaman. Market strength was broad-based across most geographies, customers and end-markets.
Aerospace segment sales were $145.8 million. Operating income for the second quarter of 2011 was $21.9 million. Global Aerosystems, acquired late last year, contributed $7.7 million in sales during the second quarter of 2011. Organic sales in the quarter were up 30.0 percent over the prior-year period.
