International distribution and outsourcing group Bunzl plc has acquired McCordick Glove & Safety Inc. in Canada and Atlas Health Care Pty Ltd. in Australia.

Based near Toronto, McCordick is a distributor of gloves and other personal protection equipment to a variety of industrial and retail customers as well as to redistributors. Sales in 2011 were C$53 million (US$53.7 million).
Based in Adelaide, Atlas Health Care is a distributor of medical consumables to the health care sector. Customers include nursing homes, hospitals and medical centers throughout South Australia and Victoria. Sales in the year ended June 30 were A$21.9 million (US$23 million).
"McCordick Glove enables us to enter the personal protection equipment sector in Canada which is a product area where we have already been very successful in a number of countries," Michael Roney, chief executive of Bunzl, said.
"Atlas Health Care is an excellent addition to our existing health care supplies operations in Australia and gives us an enhanced market position in this growing sector. It will also allow us to expand their extensive product offering to our current health care customers. We are delighted to welcome all employees of both businesses to Bunzl," Roney said.
