Industrial production increased 0.4 percent in June after a 0.2 percent decline in May. In the manufacturing sector, output advanced 0.7 percent in June and reversed a decrease of 0.7 percent in May, according to the Federal Reserve.

Outside of manufacturing, the output of mines advanced 0.7 percent in June, while the output of utilities decreased 1.9 percent. At 97.4 percent of its 2007 average, total industrial production in June was 4.7 percent above its year-earlier level.
Capacity utilization for total industry moved up 0.2 percentage point to 78.9 percent, a rate 1.4 percentage points below its long-run (1972–2011) average.
