Atlas Copco Posts 17% Organic Growth in 1Q

Atlas Copco opened new customer centers in Mozambique and Senegal.

Atlas Copco, Stockholm, Sweden, reported first-quarter sales of SEK 22.3 billion (US$3.3 billion), up 22 percent over the same period a year ago. Organically, sales increased 17 percent. Profit for the period increased 12.3 percent to SEK 3.4 billion (US$504.2 million).

Orders received increased 10 percent organically to SEK 24.8 billion (US$3.7 billion).

\”We achieved good growth despite the mixed market conditions and are very pleased with the development and value creation in the Group,\” said Ronnie Leten, president and CEO of the group. \”We strengthened our presence further during the quarter and will continue our efforts to increase market penetration.\”

Atlas Copco recently established new customer centers in Mozambique and Senegal and now has operations in 89 countries. During the first quarter, six acquisitions were completed.
