RBC Bearings Inc., Oxford, CT, manufacturer of highly-engineered precision plain, roller and ball bearings for the industrial, defense and aerospace industries, reported sales for its second quarter 2008 were $78.2 million, an increase of 6.8% from the same period a year ago.
Profit was $8.7 million up from $7.4 million in the same period a year ago.
Sales for the six-month period ended Sept. 29, 2007, were $158.1 million, an increase of 6.4% from the six-month period in 2006.
Profit for the six-month period was $18.6 million compared with $12.4 million for the same period last year.
Over the next 30 months, the Company plans to invest up to $30 million in equipment to expand its operations to produce large diameter anti-friction bearings for the oil, wind, and heavy construction markets where there is considerable demand for both existing and new products. This capacity will be added to existing plants in Texas, South Carolina, and Mexico.
