Airgas to Expand TN Plant in $150M Project

Air Liquide invests $150 million to expand Airgas’ Tennessee facility, also supplying oxygen for LG Chem’s battery plant.

That geographic segment includes gases and welding products distributor Airgas, which was No. 5 on MDM’s Top Industrial Distributors List.

For the 2023 academic year, 14 returning schools and 41 new schools from 22 states are expected to participate in the program.

The company said it will open the new center in Henderson to serve customers and retail branches in Western U.S. states.

The company said this year it will broaden its High School Welding Education Initiative, which includes 16 new schools.

For the first six months, the company’s gas and services segment — its largest, by far — grew 8% to US$12.3 billion.

Airgas said the program builds long-term relationships with local education leaders and Airgas welding and safety experts.

Air Liquide’s new investment coincides with a long-term supply agreement to serve Eastman Chemical Co. in the U.S.
