Target Taps Ex-QXO, Genuine Parts Exec as Supply Chain Leader

Target has hired QXO executive Jeff England as its new executive vice president and chief global supply chain and logistics officer, adding another notable leadership move involving a major wholesale distribution company executive.

England

The Minneapolis-based retailer announced May 19 that England will join the company effective May 31, reporting to Chief Operating Officer Lisa Roath. He succeeds Gretchen McCarthy, a longtime Target supply chain executive who will remain with the company in an advisory role through August.

England most recently served as chief supply chain officer at building materials distributor QXO, which has rapidly expanded through acquisitions since its public launch at the start of 2025, including Beacon Roofing Supply and Kodiak Building Partners. Before joining QXO, England was EVP and chief supply chain officer at automotive and industrial parts distributor Genuine Parts Company from 2022 to 2024.

Prior to his distribution industry roles, England spent roughly 18 years at Walmart, where he held a variety of senior finance, strategy and operations positions, including senior vice president of supply chain.

Target said England will help accelerate its supply chain modernization efforts as the retailer continues investing in logistics, fulfillment and inventory availability initiatives across its nearly 2,000-store network. The retailer has faced ongoing operational pressure in recent years amid uneven sales performance and supply chain execution challenges.

MDM Analysis

England’s exit creates another leadership opening at QXO, where its executive team is comprised of individuals with experience across distribution, transportation and logistics sectors to support the company’s aggressive acquisition-driven growth strategy.

More broadly, the move underscores the continued overlap between retail and wholesale distribution supply chain leadership, particularly among executives with experience scaling large logistics and fulfillment networks.
