Contractor and industrial supplies buying group AD has completed its acquisition of supplyFORCE, adding a national accounts-focused operation to its growing portfolio of services for independent distributors.
Wayne, PA-based AD said the transaction closed Sept. 24, less than three months after the organizations announced their intent to combine. Terms were not disclosed. More than 80 supplyFORCE associates will join AD and continue operating supplyFORCE as an optional value-added program for AD members.
supplyFORCE helps independent distributors secure and jointly service large maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) and government contracts, particularly those involving customers with multiple locations. AD Chairman and CEO Bill Weisberg said when the deal was announced in July that adding a program enabling independents to collaborate on national accounts was a natural extension of AD’s expanding portfolio of member services.
The acquisition followed unanimous approvals from both organizations’ boards and what AD described as an overwhelmingly favorable vote by supplyFORCE shareholders. A joint special committee representing the AD and supplyFORCE boards worked through the transaction.
“Finalizing the acquisition was the first step in helping AD to continue to invest in solutions that allow AD Members to compete more effectively in the markets they serve,” supplyFORCE Chairman and Kendall Group President John Harman said. He added that AD’s resources can support more technically advanced solutions for distributors pursuing large, multi-site customer opportunities.
AD said the supplyFORCE deal represents its 18th transaction with another member-owned group. It follows several years of significant expansion, including AD’s 2024 merger with IMARK Electrical and its 2025 combination with The Commonwealth Group. The IMARK deal helped push AD’s 2025 member sales to a record $100 billion, up approximately 20% from the prior year.
Today, AD describes itself as North America’s largest contractor and industrial products wholesale purchasing cooperative, representing more than 1,000 independently owned distributors across 13 divisions in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, with annual member sales exceeding $100 billion. Its divisions span electrical, industrial and safety, construction tools, bearings and power transmission, plumbing, PVF, HVAC, waterworks, building materials and other markets.
AD’s member sales increased 15% during the first half of 2026 to more than $58 billion. Same-store sales increased 10%, while purchases from AD supplier partners climbed 24%. The group’s net member count increased by 79 during the period.
