McNaughton-McKay to Buy Caniff Electric Supply

McNaughton-McKay’s deal to acquire Hamtramck, Michigan-based Caniff Electric Supply is expected to close in early December.

Electrical product distributor McNaughton-McKay Electric Company, Madison Heights, Michigan, announced on Tuesday that it has reached an agreement in principle to acquire Caniff Electric Supply. Financial terms of the deal, which is expected to close in early December, weren’t disclosed.

Caniff Electric Supply, which is a large independent electrical distributor of construction products in southeast Michigan, was founded in 1982 by Doug and Robert Bemis. It has remained under family ownership. Caniff Electric Supply, which is headquartered in Hamtramck, Michigan, operates out of three locations with 85 employees. It has a full line of products and services for electrical contractors and commercial accounts.

McNaughton-McKay Electric Company, which was founded in 1910 in Detroit, is an employee-owned distributor of electrical products and solutions for the industrial automation, commercial and construction markets. It’s ranked ninth on MDM’s 2021 Top Distributors list in the Electrical, Data & Security Distributors segment.
