Eaton Sales Down 9% in 3Q

Year-to-date sales decreased 7 percent year-over-year.

Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corp. (NYSE: ETN), Dublin, Ireland, reported sales for the third quarter of $5.2 billion, a 9 percent decrease over the same period a year ago. Profit decreased 25.9 percent to $446 million.

Electrical products sales were down 6 percent year-over-year to $1.8 billion and sales for electrical systems and services were down 10 percent to $1.5 billion.

Hydraulics sales were $599 million, down 18 percent compared to the prior year quarter, while Aerospace sales decreased 1 percent to $449 million and vehicle sales decreased 4 percent to $897 million.

For the first nine months, sales were $15.8 billion, down 7 percent over the same period a year ago. Profit increased 19.4 percent to $1.4 billion.
