Myers Industries, Inc. (NYSE: MYE), Akron, OH, reported sales for the third quarter of $197.3 million, an increase of 3.7 percent over the same period a year ago. Profit fell 19.7 percent for the polymer products manufacturer to $5.8 million.

Strong sales performance in the Engineered Products Segment combined with a sales increase in the Material Handling Segment more than offset a sales decrease in the Distribution Segment. Sales for the Distribution Segment were $45.1 million in the third quarter, 7.6 percent lower than the prior year.
For the first nine months, sales were $577.2 million, a 2.5 percent increase year-over-year. Profit rose 15.3 percent to $21.4 million.
