Bunzl plc reported sales in the third quarter have gone up 8% in the period ended June 30, 2009, from the prior-year period – primarily due to the effects of exchange. Organic sales were down 1%, slightly better than results in the first half of the year.
Regarding acquisitive growth, Bunzl reported:
"While acquisitions remain a key component of Bunzl’s strategy and discussions continue with a number of potential targets, the difference in the company’s price expectations and those of prospective sellers continues to be an impediment to finalizing transactions. Bunzl’s strong cash flow and balance sheet should however give the Group opportunities to consolidate further the fragmented markets in which it operates."
