Arrow Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: ARW), Melville, NY, No. 2 on MDM’s list of top electronics distributors, reported sales for the third quarter of 2011 of $5.19 billion, an increase of 11.4 percent over the same period a year ago. Profit increased 11.5 percent to $132.2 million.

Global components sales of $3.65 billion increased 6 percent year over year. Sales growth in the Americas and Europe was partially offset by weakness in the Asia Pacific region.
Global enterprise computing solutions sales of $1.54 billion increased 26 percent year over year. The segment report strong growth in the Americas and Europe for the period.
For the first nine months of 2011, profit was $424.7 million on sales of $15.95 billion, compared with profit of $321.7 million on sales of $13.5 billion in the first nine months of 2010.
