Motion Industries, the industrial segment of Atlanta, GA-based Genuine Parts Co. (NYSE: GPC), reported sales for the first quarter of $1.1 billion, a decline of 1.7 percent compared to the same period a year earlier. Operating profit fell 6.4 percent to $78.9 million.
Sales for EIS Inc., Genuine Parts’ electrical segment, were $139.2 million, a 5.4 percent decrease. Operating profit fell 12.7 percent to $10.5 million.
Office products group S.P. Richards Co. reported sales of $420.1 million, a decrease of 1.4 percent from the prior-year quarter. Operating profit fell 11.5 percent to $33.2 million.
Genuine Parts' automotive group reported sales for the first quarter of $1.5 billion, an increase of 3.4 percent from the prior-year quarter. Operating profit increased 5.7 percent to $121 million.
Genuine Parts Co. reported first-quarter sales of $3.2 billion, an increase of 0.6 percent compared to the same period a year ago. Profit decreased 1.3 percent to $144.4 million.
